    Hi Mark,

    your words are full of wisdom. I believe it is “favoritism” in first place. “Favoritism” leads to regardless of evidence and misled by illusion. Finally, lean empowers employee so that employee could be more challenging to managers. this is not welcome.

    It is great that you mentioned “union can be your friend” (sorry, my English is not good, it is not my native tongue). I know this by reading some articles about Danaher but I fully conviced until 2017, I had a Kaizen in Germany, facing union there.

    The way lean treating people helped me gain reputation from people. Naturally, union turned to accept that Kaizen as union needed to support operators. The most funny was operators thought I was one union leader in China. This freightened plant manager.

    For me, a true lean leadership is the reputation gained not authority given.
